As I was collecting inspiration for Maxted's AW23 collection, I couldn't help but notice regular references to Sports detailing across knitwear. It feels fresh and new with a gentle nod to 90s nostalgia.

It's really important to me that Maxted doesn't 'jump on trends' but sees them as inspiration to help us create timeless pieces that can be worn for years to come.

Below is our mini capsule collection influenced by sports styling and I love the colour palette.

Here are our favourite styles that all nod to sports styling.

1. Pebble Zadie Cardigan

The Zadie cardigan in Pebble is a zip-through, similar to those seen on recent runways by some of my favourite designers, like Isabel Marant, Sandro and Mui Mui.

2. Ochre/ Pink Chloe Cardigan

Button Cardigans are everywhere this season, and ours is designed in a ribbed stitch with a bold contrast stripe. We love how the natural Ochre is put next to the Pink for what feels like a very sporty 'Pop'.

3. Sleeveless Cable

This sleeveless V-Neck gives us cricket jumper feels. We also have a great blog post on how to style a sleeveless knit

4. Pink Bell Pullover

Knitted in a ribbed stitch with a raglan sleeve this pullover nods to English country sports. In Pink, instead of one of our more traditional colours this pullover gives us something to be excited about.

5. Navy/Blue Stripe Eight Pullover

Later in the season we will dive in to the use of Blue across the collection, but a Blue/Navy stripe we saw down the runway gave us all sporting feels and we've incorporated something similar into our range.

6. Pale Blue / Navy Seven Pullover

'Tipping' is something traditionally seen in a sports team uniform - a tip of colour gives a pop. I love how the Navy contrasts against this pale blue for a sports luxe feel.

7. Pebble Waffle Seven Pullover

The waffles stitch is a 3 dimensional stitch that is breathable, lightweight and often the reason we see a waffle stitch used in sportswear. I've incorporated a chunky waffle stitch into our best selling Seven Pullover - I'm living in this style right now.

8. Light Grey Marle Polo Knit

Button downs are everywhere and bring with them golf nostalgia. I just love the Prada version in grey paired back with a bright orange skirt. We have written a blog post about how to style a polo knit shirt here.

I've created a boxy shape polo knit with with collar detailing to create a more wearable style compared to a tightly-fitting top.
